HNUST Earth Science Discipline Breaks into Top 1% of ESI Rankings

According to the latest Essential Science Indicators (ESI) data released by Clarivate Analytics on May 9th, HNUST's Earth Science discipline successfully entered the top 1% of ESI for the first time. This achievement marks a significant milestone in the development of this discipline at HNUST, reaching international standards of excellence. As of now, five disciplines of HNUST have achieved top 1% ESI rankings.

The ESI data, which covers the period from January 1st to February 29th, 2024, shows that 9,493 institutions worldwide are now ranked in the top 1%. Within the group, HNUST has climbed to the 2,068th position, improving by 120 places from the previous period.

In recent years, the School of Earth Science and Spatial Information Engineering has focused on discipline construction, with an emphasis on the synergistic development of teaching and research. The university has vigorously pursued its "1311"earth science construction strategy, integrating talent recruitment and team building. This approach has already resulted in the formation of seven academic teams, which have published high-level papers and led projects at the provincial and ministerial level. And more and more teachers are undertaking horizontal industry projects.
