Dear teachers, students and friends:
At the beginning of the new year, we, on behalf of HNUST, extend our sincere greetings and heartfelt gratitude to the faculty, students, retried comrades and all leaders, alumni as well as people from all walks of life who support the development of HNUST.
As time goes by, 2019 is a meaningful year that builds on past successes to further advance our cause. In this year, guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, led by political construction of the CPC, taking opportunity of celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the PRC, as well as the founding of HNUST, and driven by the idea “Remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind”, HNUST has made new breakthroughs in all aspects.
The retired Professor Xia Zhaoyan was honored as the 7th Session National Moral Model, and Professor Zhong Xingu the National Model Teacher. Two disciplines of Engineering and Chemistry entered the top 1% in ESI Global Ranking. “Hainiu”, the deep sea multi-functional drilling rig became a new postcard of Hunan. HNUST was enlisted in 2020 world university ranking according to U.S. News & World Report. All these breakthroughs are here for all to see and are inspiring, which have driven HNUST to stride firm steps towards the goals of “Double First-Class” and higher level university.
The coming year is crucial for HNUST’s full-potential development. In order to build a high-level comprehensive university with its own characteristics, we must fully be in the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, accelerate the construction of modern universities’ system and capacity for governance, adhere to the fundamental task of morality nurturing, constantly improve the ability of serving the country and local economy, and speed up the process of "Double First-Class" construction under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
