On May 26th, HNUST successfully held the Third Alumni Council for Election and the Inaugural Meeting of Alumni Entrepreneurs Association at the Li Jinhui Hall.
The meeting was attended by leaders of Xiangtan Municipal Party Committee, all school leaders, alumni representatives from across the country, department heads, Dean (Secretary) and Deputy Secretary of each school as well as representative of elder teachers and students.
Liu Zhiren, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, stressed that Xiangtan provided various resources to support the innovation and entrepreneurship for alumni. He expressed his hope that alumni would bring more projects to Xiangtan, and he also encouraged the Council and the Association to work on attracting more talents and investments.
Tang Yayang, Secretary of the Party Committee of HNUST, reviewed the university's achievements since the third Party Congress. He pointed out that alumni play a key role in this process. He encouraged alumni to start businesses in Hunan, contributing to the high-quality development of Alma Mater and the Hunan region.
Zhou Shaofeng, Executive Director of the special task force for the "Alumni Return to Hunan" initiative under the Hunan Provincial Education Department, introduced the background and key activities of the project. He expressed hope to strengthen the bond between alumni and HNUST, aiming for win-win cooperation and mutual development.
Zheng Zhiguo, Director of the First Council of Alumni Entrepreneurs Association, stated that the Association would engage in in-depth cooperation with local alumni associations by building a platform to categorize alumni industries by region and type, thereby promoting support and mutual development among alumni across different fields.
In the conference, attendees voted to adopt the Constitution for the Inaugural Meeting of Alumni Entrepreneurs Association of HNUST (Draft) and the Constitution of Alumni Council of HNUST (Draft). And the recommendation lists for the direct and associate officers of both the First Council of Alumni Entrepreneurs Association and the Forth Alumni Council of HNUST were approved.
This conference has also marked the inauguration of the New-energy Resources Industrial Research Institution of HNUST. Zhou Hu, Dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, and Huang Xiaodong, ambassador of Alumni, delivered speeches.
At the meeting, teachers and students performed, and alumni representatives presented flowers to 37 veteran teachers as a token of gratitude.
To date, over 1,000 enterprises have been founded by HNUST alumni, many of whom have become leaders in various fields, contributing to local innovative development. Consequently, the Party Committee of HNUST decided to establish the Alumni Entrepreneurs Association. The association now comprises 71 executive members, including a Director, Honorary Director, and other members.
