HNUST launched its 2021 Autumn Sports Meeting on November 11th . Tang Yayang, Secretary of the Party Committee of HNUST, Zhu Chuanqu, President of HNUST, and the committee members, leaders of HNUST attended the opening ceremony. Chinese weightlifter Long Qingquan, as a two-time Olympic champion and the world record keeper in the men’s 56kg category, was invited to give a speech. Heads of relevant functional departments and each school also showed up there.
The first coming into sight was the representative team of each school wearing their distinctive uniforms and marching onto the field, which showed the vigor and vitality of youth.
Secretary Tang announced the start of this sports meeting on the theme of accepting challenges, striving for excellence and promoting the Olympic spirit. President Zhu expressed his wishes for the students’ devotion to physical exercises and their struggle to be a new generation of capable young people who have a good and all-round moral, intellectual, physical, and aesthetic grounding in addition to the hardworking spirit in the socialist cause.
Born in a small village of Hunan Province, the remarkable weightlifter Long Qingquan won the gold medal in 2016 Rio Olympic Games, breaking the world record in an incredible score despite ups and downs. At the ceremony, Long cited his own experience and appealed to the students to cherish their campus life, build up their bodies through physical exercise for the rejuvenation of the nation.
Adhering to the Olympic spirit and Chinese Sportsmanship, all the players and referees made solemn promises to fulfill their duties.
Then on the field came various brilliant performances. A set of Tai Chi, a sort of traditional Chinese sport, showed great charm with its slow and powerful movements. The dragon and lion dancing troupe presented a vivid picture for the audience. The school military training group manifested their strength through forceful sports. In addition, a crowd of performers danced to the cheerful music.
It is the time of the youth to fight with all their might in the competition and never give up on the way of chasing their dreams.
