On October 21st, the 24th Hunan College English Speaking Contest & 9th “FLTRP Cup” National English Speaking Contest drew to an end in Changsha University. The team of HNUST made great achievements in the competition, in which Wen Jiayi and Wang Zeya obtained the first prize respectively in the Non-professional Group 2 and Yang Qianlin got the second prize in the Professional Group 2. The representatives of Xiaoxiang College,, HNUST, Tang Mengyue and Wang Zhanghua, scored the third prize respectively in the Non-professional Group 1 and Zhou Xiaohu won the third prize in the Professional Group 1. Besides，HNUST was awarded the first prize and the third prize as a team in Group 2 and Group 1 respectively.
The School of Foreign Studies of HNUST attached great importance to the competition. The students have been practiced for nearly six months from mid-March under the guidance of Shen Li, Xu Lijie and Kuang Zhan. The six contestants selected achieved excellent results in fierce competition with 153 contestants from 51 universities and colleges in Hunan Province.
It is reported that the competition, sponsored by Department of Education of Hunan Province and organized by Changsha University, lasts two days from October 20th to 21st.The competition not only provides a platform for all college students to develop interests in English, improve oral English and display their talent in public speaking,but also helps to create a positive environment to learn foreign languages for college students.
