On the afternoon of April 28th, in order to scientifically map out HNUST’s development blueprint and solidly promote the complication of its 15th Five-Year Development Plan, the Development Planning Department of Hunan University of Science and Technology (HNUST) organized the first expert symposium. Yin Fengyu, Director of the Party and Government Affairs Office, presided over the symposium.
Based on current trends in higher education and the practical context of HNUST, the participating experts conducted in-depth discussions regarding the long-term development strategy. Several consensuses were reached at the symposium: Firstly, Priority should be given to developing advantageous disciplines and building distinctive academic brands. Secondly, we should continuously deepen interdisciplinary integration, break down disciplinary barriers, stimulate the innovation vitality, and form a joint force for development. Thirdly, the in-depth integration of industry and education should be promoted, close cooperation between the university and enterprises strengthened, and a precise alignment between the talent-cultivation supply side and the industry's demand side achieved. Fourthly, we should deepen education and teaching reform, innovate the talent cultivation model, effectively improve the quality of independent talent cultivation, and deliver more high-calibre talents for the society.
