On the morning of September 7th, the inauguration ceremony for the first “Economics Elite Base Class” of HNUST’s Business School was held in Room 101 of the Academic Report Hall in the Third Teaching Building. Notable attendees included Zhou Zhihua, the member of the Party Committee and Vice President of HNUST, Xiao Guoan, former Secretary of the Party Committee, Liu Youjin, former Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Honorary Class Advisor of the Elite Base Class, and Pan Aimin, Vice President of Hunan University of Finance and Economics.
Economics Elite Base Classis the only institution in Hunan Province dedicated to nurturing elite students in the field of economics. Approved by the Hunan Provincial Department of Education in 2021, the base class is led by the Business School, which selected 30 outstanding students from the college to form the first class.
In the ceremony, Zhou Zhihua introduced the economics discipline and the construction of the base class. He expressed hopes for all parties to jointly run the program. After Zhou’s speech, the teacher representative Xiao Guoan shared four wishes for the students: “ideal, learning, self-improvement and success”, encouraging them to aim high and contribute to the country and society. Liu Youjin followed with an analysis of both domestic and international contexts, urging students to study hard and become a well-rounded individuals. He Shengbing, the Director of the Division of Social Sciences and representative of young and middle-aged faculty, encouraged the students to enhance their academic pursuits and broaden their international horizons. Finally, student representative Gao Jiayue spoke about her commitment to pursuing knowledge and continuous innovation.
