Recently, Hunan Provincial Education Department has issued “the Notice on the Announcement of 2021 Hunan New Liberal Arts Research and Reform Projects”. After application and recommendation of HNUST as well as expert evaluation organized by Hunan Provincial Education Department, 5 projects of HNUST have been approved as 2021 Hunan New Liberal Arts Research and Reform Projects, among which 2 projects have been recommended to participate in the evaluation of National New Liberal Arts Research and Reform Projects.

New Liberal Arts Construction refers to a series of construction matters and work of forming the new liberal arts by integrating philosophy and social science with the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, aiming at meeting the new requirements of the development of philosophy and social science in the new era and promoting the interdisciplinary integration.

In recent years, HNUST has kept pace with higher education in the new era and adhered to the innovation-led development. With the adjustment of talent training program, the disciplines and majors as well as talent training have been more in line with the social needs, which  can systematically boost the upgrading and transformation of disciplines and majors, and promote the construction of new engineering and new liberal arts. In the next step, HNUST will take the approved projects as an opportunity to do a better job in project management, and take project construction as a significant starting point and carrier to deepen the education and teaching reform. In accordance with the topic selection requirements of the Ministry of Education and the specific conditions of the university itself, HNUST will also take concrete steps to carry out the new liberal arts research and reform, accelerate the training of liberal arts talents, and comprehensively promote the innovative development of higher liberal arts education in the new era.
