The Second Council for Election of HNUST Education Foundation & the Third Session of the Third Alumni Association took place on April 8th. Alumni across the country gathered at HNUST for a joyful reunion an for its further development.

The meeting was attended by Tang Yayang, Secretary of HNUST Party Committee, Zhu Chuanqu, former Deputy Secretary of HNUST Party Committee, President of HNUST and Chairman of Alumni Association; Liu Youjin, Deputy Secretary of HNUST Party Committee; Liao Xiangyue, Wang Weijun, Zhao Qiancheng, Zhou Zhihua, Vice Presidents of HNUST; Guo Shiyin, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of HNUST; Hu Shiqi, Chairperson of the Second Council of HNUST Education Foundation and former Vice President of HNUST. Other attendees included directors of relevant functional departments of HNUST, deans, secretaries, and deputy secretaries of schools of HNUST, alumni representatives including chairpersons, executive chairpersons and secretaries-general of Alumni Associations.

Tang Yayang expressed gratitude to alumni for their contributions and reviewed the achievements since the Third Party Congress of HNUST. He pointed out that alumni play a key role in HNUST’s high-quality development. He also offered four suggestions for developing alumni associations. First, to settle down alumni; second, we should build effective alumni associations; third, we should provide better service for alumni; fourth, we should strengthen the bonds between alumni and HNUST.

Zhu Chuanqu gave a summary about the efforts since the Second Session of the Third Alumni Association. He proposed that alumni associations should deal with the following four aspects. First, we should accelerate innovation-driven development; second, we should perfect alumni platforms to achieve win-win results; third, we should further innovate services in the aspect of platforms, approaches, contents and levels; fourth, we should develop alumni brand in culture, service, activities and cooperation.

Liu Youjin said that alumni are not only a brilliant name card of HNUST, but also the most reliable and important support for the development. In the critical period of high-quality development of the university, he hopes that the new Council of Education Foundation and the newly adjusted Alumni Council further strengthen their own construction, better promote the win-win cooperation between HNUST and alumni, and make more contributions to the construction of a high-level comprehensive university with distinctive characteristics and international influence.

Liao Xiangyue said that the council has been improving the mechanism and standardized the management to ensure the effective operation of the foundation in the past six years; The council achieved good development of the foundation by integrating resources and raising funds. The council promoted the foundation. He hoped that the foundation should focus on the following three aspects in the future work: first, to focus on the education and serve the high-quality development of the school; second, to act in accordance with the law and enhance the scientific management; third, to keep reforming and innovating.

Zhao Zhaoping, Director of Finance Department, made a report about the financial situation of the Second Council of Education Foundation of HNUST at the conference. The revisions of CEF were discussed at the conference, and were voted to pass the revised CEF, the list of directors of the third Council of the Education Foundation, the list of directors of the third Council of the Alumni Association, and the Measures for Awarding the Title of "Honorary Alumni" of HNUST(Trial).

Meanwhile, the symposium of alumni representatives was successfully held, and the second "Alumni Cup" friendly basketball, football and badminton competitions were also kicked off. Alumni also enjoyed the beautiful scenery of HNUST and witnessed the changes of the Alma mater.

The school Education Foundation and Alumni Association since its inception, has been principle of serving school development, the alumni and the social development, actively mining alumni and social resources, and has completed the financing system and mechanism construction, donation raising, project management and a series of tasks, making great contributions to the development of HNUST.
