On September 18th, Chinese Design Theory and Technological Innovation——The Forth Summit of Chinese Design Theory and the Forth National forum of “Chinese Craftsman” Cultivation was successfully held in HNUST, hosted by Tongji University, HNUST and the study team of a major project of National Social Science, Research on Chinese Craftsman Cultural System and Innovative Inheriting. More than twenty experts from nationwide universities came to discuss Chinese design theory and technological innovation.
Liu Youjin, Vice President of HNUST, attended and gave a welcome address. Wu Zhijun, Dean of the School of Architecture and Art Design, presided over the opening ceremony.
Professor Zou Qichang, the initiator of the symposium, from Tongji University, introduced the topic of the symposium in detail. The symposium aimed to discuss and solve the problems of contemporary construction in Chinese design system as well as put the solution into function so as to make their own contributions to China’s future development.
After the opening ceremony, the experts had a discussion on the following four topics: Basic Concept and Theory Building, Design Practice and Cultural and Creative Industries, Design Management and Civilization Construction, Craftsman Cultivation and Social Development.
It is known that this forum especially focuses on the problem in the theory of design management as well as in social development, bringing a significant constructive value to the social innovative development.
In conjunction with this academic conference, the shortlisted works on the subject of Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture and My Regional Living in design competition were exhibited in HNUST. Experts paid a visit to it during the conference.
