On March 11, the "2024 Dianzan·Science Popularization in Shaanxi Campaign" awards ceremony, hosted by the Shaanxi Provincial Association for Science and Technology, took place at Shaanxi Radio and Television Station. Alumnus Yao Yiqing, Professor and Vice Dean of the College of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering at Northwest A&F University (NWAFU), was recognized as the 2024 Science Popularization Figure.

Professor Yao has long been dedicated to research and public understanding of green, low-carbon agricultural development. Guided by national strategic needs, his systematic studies have led to groundbreaking achievements. His proposed theory of methane-producing archaea domestication under high ammonia nitrogen concentration has led to highly efficient and stable biogas engineering systems, yielding significant economic and environmental benefits.

His research not only garnered academic acclaim but also provided critical technical support for advancing the high-value resource utilization and low-carbon transformation of biomass waste. Through his work, Yao has bridged the gap between cutting-edge science and real-world applications, solidifying his role as a leading advocate for sustainable agriculture.
