The 2018 ACM-ICPC Asia Nanjing Regional Contest was held at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics on October 13 and 14. Under the guidance of Xiang Desheng and Chen Yanhui from the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Aurora Team of HNUST, consisting of three senior students, Wang Chun from Information Security Class 1, Yuan Quan from Computer Science and Technology Class 2 and Wang Zhijie from Geographic Information Science Class 1, won the gold medal in the competition.
Since 2012, the School of Computer Science and Engineering has set up a training team for ACM events. Expectedly, HNUST won the gold medal in the contest under the careful training and guidance.
It is reported that 972 contestants from 186 colleges and universities participated in the competition, winning 31 gold, 62 silver, and 93 bronze medals and one Best Female Team Award. Only HNUST and Hunan University have won the gold medals in Hunan Province.
