In order to popularize the knowledge of AIDS prevention and control as well as enhance university students’ awareness of AIDS prevention, Red Ribbon Youth Campus Tour Activity and the opening ceremony of World AIDS Day theme activities in Xiangtan were held in South Campus Club of HNUST. The Health Ambassador Ju Ping attended the event as a special guest and presided over the interview. Zhuang Tao, deputy secretary of Chinese Association of STD and AIDS Prevention and Control, and Hu Shiqi, vice president of HNUST made speeches. Li Xinwu, president of Hunan Association of STD and AIDS Prevention and Control as well as second-level inspector of Hunan Commission of Health, Fu Jun, director of AIDS Prevention Office of Xiangtan as well as deputy mayor of People’s Government of Xiangtan, and Li Junhua, director of AIDS Prevention Office of Hunan as well as deputy director of Hunan Commission of Health attended the event and delivered speeches. Nearly 1600 volunteers from HNUST, Xiangtan University, Hunan Institute of Engineering, Hunan Software Vocational Institute and frontline staff of AIDS prevention and control participated in this activity.

In the interview, Chen Xi and Xiao Gang, two experts on AIDS, shared the knowledge of AIDS prevention, detection and treatment with real data and vivid examples, and jointly appealed to teachers and students present with Ms. Ju.

After the interview, Ms. Ju sang a song, which aroused the enthusiasm of all the students present. In the meantime, the original song brought by the association of HNUST showed the utmost understanding and respect for AIDS patients.

It is reported that Red Ribbon Youth Campus Tour Activity was directed by National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China, Ministry of Education, the Central Committee of the Communist Young League and the Office of the Work Committee on AIDS Prevention and Control of the State Council, sponsored by Chinese Association of STD and AIDS Prevention and Control, Chinese Health Education Center, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Rights and Interests Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Young League, China Association of Higher Education, and undertaken by Hunan Association of STD and AIDS Prevention and Control, AIDS Prevention Committee of People’s Government of Xiangtan, Xiangtan Commission of Health, Xiangtan Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention, HNUST, and Xiangtan Family Planning Association.
