On November 28th, the list of winners of the 8th Hunan Arts Festival was announced. The large-scale original drama "Deep Sea Pioneer" based on Professor Wan Buyan won the Tian Han Grand Award, and multiple Tian Han individual awards including the Tian Han Stage Design Award and the Tian Han Performance Award.
" Deep Sea Pioneer " is jointly produced by Hunan Performing Arts Group, Hunan Association for Science and Technology and Hunan University of Science and Technology (HNUST). The Hunan Repertory Theatre created this production based on Wan Buyan, the Director of marine laboratory of HNUST and a "Role Model of the Times". The play primarily tells the story of Wan and his team, who have conquered adversities for more than 30 years, overcome challenges and difficulties by independently developing the "Hainiu" series of submarine drilling system. The 30 years journey showcases how China’s marine resource exploration equipment evolved from non-existent to world-leading. It vividly reflects the spirit of scientists and educators dedicated to the greater good, striving to strengthen the country through ocean exploration, and nurturing talents for the Party and the country.
