From April 18th to 20th, the opening ceremony and annual work conference of the Yao Foundation's 2025 charity initiative were held in Hangzhou. As an academic partner of Yao Foundation for 2025, representatives from Hunan University of Science and Technology (HNUST) attended the meeting, marking the fourth consecutive year of our collaborative educational support program with the Beijing Yao Foundation Public Welfare Foundation.
Under the theme "Sports Education, Healthy Minds, and Dream Pursuit," the conference gathered over 200 representatives from education, sports, and charity sectors nationwide. Notable attendees included Wan Xuejun, Secretary-General of the China Youth Development Foundation, Yao Ming (former Chairman of the Chinese Basketball Association), founder of the Yao Foundation, and Ye Li, Chairperson of the Yao Foundation. Ye delivered a speech at the event.
HNUST's Yao Foundation program is led by Professor Li Liangming from the College of Physical Education. Associate Professor Zhou Guolong, Director of the University Sports Department, serves as academic supervisor. According to the 2025 plan, HNUST will select outstanding basketball education volunteers to form teaching teams. These teams will be dispatched to 32 rural primary schools in Linxiang City and Huarong County, Hunan Province, continuing HNUST's commitment to the philanthropic philosophy of "sports-based education."
