Dear teachers and comrades:
In September, we usher in the 38th Teachers’ Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival. We would like to extend our greetings and great respects to all the faculty and retired comrades! We also would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the people from all walks of life, the vast number of alumni and teachers’ family members who care about and support the development of HNUST!
Teachers have always been the most loyal and tenacious power in cultural inheritance and development.
Our teachers have actively devoted themselves to the great but plain cause of education. We vigorously implement the “353” Strategy and concentrate on overcoming difficulties and accomplishing major tasks. 3 doctoral degree programs of first-level disciplines, a discipline ranking 1% of ESI in the world and 10 construction points of national first-class undergraduate majors were newly added in HNUST. The historical breakthrough was achieved in introducing the Chang Jiang scholars and cultivating national excellent youths…Teachers try their best to contribute to HNUST’s construction plan of a Double First-Class and make themselves the powerful notes of the time while appreciating and eulogizing the great era.
Our teachers stand silently on the wisdom peak of both science and technology and humanity. Wan Buyan, one of “the most beautiful teachers” in China, guided his team to set the new world record for deep-sea drilling and the young professor Chen Chaoyang helped the reliable and stable operation of China’s big grid…Teachers crack hard nuts regardless of risks and demonstrate HNUSTers’ spirit and endeavors to achieve new height in the academic and scientific fields.
Our teachers keep inheriting the spirit of great love with warm sentiments. The torch relay at the opening ceremony embodied the spiritual inheritance of HNUST and the coming out of the academic scepter represented the recognition and blessing for students. In the hot summer, teachers sent the admission letter in person to the “pocket girl” Xiao Pan and other strong-willed and warm-hearted freshmen… Teachers evoke soul with their own soul, nourish love with their own love and cultivate the young people of the time who can adapt to both loneliness and community life as well as excel at adventuring and creation.
We have gained mighty accomplishments from the development: the number of undergraduate students enrolled in HNUST has long been the first among Hunan Provincial Colleges and Universities, and it has been rising. The intelligent motorcade from HUNST won the first place in the 17th National University Student Intelligent Car Race. Tang Wenbo, a postgraduate student of HNUST, took the Fendouzhe Striver deep-sea manned submersible to complete sediment sampling. The above achievements have brought HNUST public praise from the Ministry of Education and Hunan Provincial Party Committee and other governmental departments successively.
A three-feet platform matters the future. We are in a deep love for this campus where numerous teachers dedicate their lives tenaciously for the common dream.
We are in a deeper feeling that Teachers have always been the mark of a university’s soul. Only when carrying forward the prevailing custom of respects on teachers and emphasis on teaching can we make a steady, far-reaching and brave steps in the course of HNUST. The university will stick to promoting its development to strengthen the country, which means that a teacher, as the most glorious career, enjoys a great admiration on the campus of HNUST.
We are in a deeper feeling that “Teachers’ learning” has always been the guide of marching direction. Only through struggles and perseverance can the outstanding civilization be passed down from generation to generation. We shall live up to the entrustment of the party and the country, bear the school motto (“Realism, Innovation, Honesty and Ambition”) in mind so as to answer the fundamental questions of what, how and for whom to train students and make contributions to HNUST.
We are in a deep feeling that “Teachers’ dream” has always been the motivation of inheritance. Only when staying true to the original aspiration and keeping the mission in mind can we make a successful trip to the place we want to get. Once we choose to be a teacher, we should keep in mind our mission of devoting ourselves to the cultivation of talents for the country without complaints. Specifically, it is sincerity, love as well as conduct that react with students, encouraging every student in HNUST to move forward towards their dreams.
Teachers and comrades: We shall look far into the future based on the current situation and set the stage with youthful ambition, struggling and educating fruits for the success of the approaching the 20th National Congress of the CPC.
