On September 8th, Shen Xiaoming, Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, inspected the operation and development of Hainan-based enterprises and institutions in Sanya. The inspection intended to thoroughly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches and instructions concerning Hunan’s work. It aimed to serve major national strategies, strengthen collaboration in scientific and technological innovation, and promote coordinated development between Hunan and Hainan provinces. Feng Fei, Secretary of the Hainan Provincial Party Committee, also joined the inspection.
Shen Xiaoming and his delegation visited the research vessel of the Sanya Research Institute of Hunan University of Science and Technology (HNUST) and listened to a briefing by Professor Wan Buyan on deep-sea resource development and equipment. Shen emphasized HNUST’s work should base on national strategic needs and strive for policy and project support so as to better achieve synergistic development. Shen called for integrating innovative resources for platform construction, and for jointly tackling key technical challenges to contribute to sci-tech self-reliance and self-strengthening at higher levels. Furthermore, Shen stressed the importance of using reform to resolve challenges by coordinating reforms in education, science and technology, and talent, and strengthening institutional and mechanistic innovation to provide momentum and support for high-quality development.
Provincial leaders Wang Qiyang and Zou Guang of Hainan, Chen Jing of Hunan, Academician Bai Lianyang of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Jiang Lizhong, Party Secretary of Hunan University of Science and Technology, participated in the event.
