The first Hunan Form on Fundamental Education was held in the reporting hall on the fifth floor of Lide Building on the morning of April 15th. In the afternoon, a parallel forum was also held, directed by the local Party Committees and governments.
The forums were chaired by Liao Xiangyue, Vice President and member of the HNUST Party Committee. The events were attended by many distinguished guests including Yan Heping, Vice President of Hengyang Municipal CPPCC and Secretary of Shigu District Party Committee, Zeng Menglong, Secretary of Zhengxiang District Party Committee, Lei Hua, Secretary of Qidong County Party Committee, Deng Wangjun, Mayor and Deputy Secretary of Shaoshan Municipal Party Committee, Chen Yong’gao, Head of Changsha County and Deputy Secretary of its Party Committee, Yi Xingjian, Deputy Secretary of Lingxiang Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of its Working Committee for Education, Jiang Yu, Vice Governor of Yuelu District in Xiangtan, Chen Zan, Deputy Head of Xiangtan County, as well as HNUST representatives were present.
In his opening remarks, Liao Xiangyue extended a warm welcome to the faculty and students attending the forum. He pointed out that the forum should be seen as a chance to learn more about Xi Jinping’s important statements about education. Liao Xiangyue also stressed the importance of contributing to the construction of a top-notch teacher education system and the high-quality development of fundamental education in Hunan.
Yan Heping emphasized the importance of the principle of “adding, subtracting, multiplying, and erasing” in grass-roots Party Committees and governments. He highlighted the need to “add”innovative teaching methods,“subtract” the burden on teachers,“multiply” the transformation of education, and“erase” obstacles to educational reform. He also stressed that teacherswere the pioneersand main beneficiaries of educational reform.
During the forum, participants talked about how to solve the core problems in developing fundamental education.
Zeng Menglong shared the approaches to the high-quality and balanced development of compulsory education in Zhengxiang District. Lei Hua also expressed his opinions on building an elite teacher team to promote the development of fundamental education.
Deng Wangjun suggested five key points to promote the high-quality development of fundamental education, including adhering to the leadership of the CPC, building scientific systems, deepening systematic reform, strengthening the construction of teams, and improving security conditions.
Chen Yong’gao pointed out that Changsha County had always prioritized education and was dedicated to building a powerful county of modern education that satisfied people.
Yi Xingjian mentioned that the development of fundamental education should be promoted by making the teaching profession admirable, stimulating the motivation for being devoted to teaching, and enhancing teachers’ professional abilities, making teaching an opportunity to promote personal growth.
Jiang Yu shared that they developed a satisfying education system in Yuetang District by always striving for excellence and perfection.
Chen Zan emphasized that Chinese fundamental education shouldered great responsibility, and it was urgent for us to make all-round efforts to promote the construction of first-rate teacher groups at a new historical starting point.
Overall, this forum highlighted the construction of high-quality faculty, which would not only contribute to implementing Xi Jinping’s statements about education, but also help accumulate experience to promote the construction of fundamental education.
