On the afternoon of October 16th, Advisory Committee Meeting on Industrial Design Teaching in Higher Education Under the Ministry of Education of China (MOE) was held in Meeting Room B3-1 of Lizhi Building. Experts and scholars from dozens of colleges and universities attended the meeting, which was presided over by Ji Tie, secretary-general of the committee and dean of School of Design of Hunan University.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Ji went straight to the topic and fully affirmed the importance of building the collaborative innovation platform for the national first-class industrial design major construction. He thought that the original intention of building the platform was to facilitate discipline development, talent training as well as exchanges and cooperation, which requires us to learn from advanced experience, enhance its recognition in this field, stimulate teachers and students’ enthusiasm for learning and creation, and strive to build a regional authoritatively certificated platform.
The scholars introduced the situations of discipline construction, project application, teaching and scientific research in their universities. In addition, they shared their own ideas and discussed related strategies on how to achieve the combination of teaching and research, transformation and upgrading, and the improvement of students' innovation ability by adapting to the development of “Emerging Engineering”.
He Renke, professor from the School of Design of Hunan University and director of the committee, said that in the construction of "Emerging Engineering", all universities should give full consideration to the source of students, teachers, teaching resources and other factors, as well as attach great importance to ecological benefits. Apart from that, they should also pay attention to the development of artificial intelligence and 5G technology, and earnestly do a good job in discipline planning and construction.
It is reported that the Advisory Committee on Industrial Design Teaching in Higher Education has successively carried out the work in the new phase. And the future achievements of innovation and system reform are worthy of anticipation.
