On September 23rd, HNUST Professor Wan Buyan was awarded the medal in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the PRC, issued by the Communist Party of China Central Committee, the State Council and the Central Military Commission. The award ceremony was held in Lide Buiding, presided by HNUST President Zhu Chuanqi and attended by representatives of relevant departments and scientific research institutions of HNUST.
President Zhu expressed his congratulations to Professor Wan, and pointed out that the medal signified the country’s recognition to Wan’s scientific research achievements, as well as a great glory to HNUST. Meanwhile, Zhu also called on that all teachers and students should learn from Professor Wan, do well in all work, and spare no efforts to make greater contribution to our country and society.
Professor Wan said he was very moved and thankful for the recognition and support from the country and school, and this medal was not only an honor for him, but also a sense of encouragement and responsibility for him. At the same time, it carried the joint efforts of all team members and the concern and hope from the school and leaders. He stressed that his team would work harder and achieve better results to pay back the trust of the country, government and school.
During the ceremony, Xiao Jiaqi, Deputy Director of Xiangtan Science and Technology Bureau, pointed out that only two people in Xiangtan had been awarded the medal in the field of science and technology. Furthermore, he sent his congratulations to Wan and thanked HNUST for its contribution to the scientific innovation in Xiangtan. In the end, Wan Wen, Chief of Science and Technology Department of HNUST, gave an introduction to Professor Wan Buyan.
It is reported that the award of medals is an important part of the celebration events for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the PRC. Those medals will be awarded to the following individuals: living veterans and comrades who participated in the revolutionary work before the founding of the PRC; living individuals who received honors and was awarded at the national level and above after the founding of the PRC; living service personnel and veterans who received honors the first-class merit citation for fighting wars after the founding of the PRC; and international friends who have made outstanding contributions to the founding of the PRC.
