On November 3rd, Innovation and Development Conference in Commemoration of the 70th Anniversary of HNUST was held, which was presided by Liu Deshun, Secretary of Party Committe of HNUST and attended by nearly 10,000 alumni, leaders, faculties, students, and representatives of sister universities and the press.
At 9:38 a.m., Secretary Liu announced the opening of the conference in the sound of the national anthem.
Then, HNUSTPresident Zhu Chuanqu expressed his warm welcome to all guests and extended his sincere gratitude and respect to the people who had made great contributions to the university over the past seven decades. He reviewed its 70-year history, presented its status quo and hoped it could march forward to the goal of first-class university to make new contributions to Hunan Province and to the realization of Chinese dream.
Huang Yunqing,Secretary of Party Committe of Xiangtan University, offered his heartfelt congratulations, on behalf of sister universities, to the 70th anniversary of HNUST. He said that the two universities had been shared the same culture and helped each other as closest friends which brought considerable accomplishments in various fields. He also hoped for the closer friendship and mutual development.
Alumnus representatives Wang Shuchun,Secretary of Party Committe ofValin Group, and Professor Xiao Keyan from Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, both expressed sincere congratulations to their Alma Mater and said that they were ready to cooperate with HNUST for mutual benefits.
Teacher representative Wan Buyan, who was in charge of Exploration and Mining Equipment for Marine Mineral Resources and National Engineering Research Center, and student representative Dou Wanning from the School of Humanities both felt proud of beingHNUSTers and were committed to making new contributions to HNUST and to the country.
In addition to words and speeches, the love for HNUST was also delivered in the form of performances. The atmosphere of the show reached a climax when a dance was given by the troupe of Aerobics Art.
The conference was also broadcast live on Weibo and Hunan Today. And on the eve of the conference, alumnus associations and universities at home and abroad sent congratulations and best wishes to HNUST.
