On the afternoon of September 22th, 2020 commendation ceremony and teaching conference was held, which was attended by all school leaders, representatives of faculty members, and heads of relevant functional departments. Liu Deshun, Secretary of Party Committee of HNUST, presided over the conference; President Zhu Chuanqu delivered a speech; Vice President Hu Shiqi gave a report on teaching.
Liu Deshun congratulated the units and individuals who were commended, and hoped that all schools and teachers could learn from the role models. They should, centering on the basic tasks of fostering virtue in education, innovate teaching methods, improve teaching ability and form a good teaching atmosphere. He pointed out that General Secretary Xi Jinping recently visited Hunan and put forward instructions and new expectations for Hunan’s scientific and technological innovation and education. Therefore, we should carry forward the spirit of General Secretary’s important speeches, turn the General Secretary’s care into enthusiasm and motivation, as well as promote high-quality development of undertakings. Finally, He hoped that teachers would stay true to their original aspiration and mission, write a new chapter in the construction of high-level comprehensive universities, and contribute greater wisdom and strength to the construction of new Hunan and the realization of the Chinese dream.
How to deepen the reform of undergraduate education in the new era? President Zhu put forward three suggestions on school teaching. First, comprehensively carry out the reform of credit system. We should grasp the key points, work hard to optimize the curriculum system and management services, and ensure the quality of class teaching. Second, start the classroom revolution in an all-round way. We should not only fully understand the new advantages of online teaching, but also take the initiative to meet the new challenges. Third, comprehensively deepen the course reform for ideological and political education. In order to ensure that the course construction of ideological and political education is effective, we should constantly strengthen the awareness of education, precisely find out the angle of education and constantly improve the comprehensive teaching ability of teachers.
Hu Shiqi summed up the year’s achievements in school teaching, made an in-depth analysis of the challenges and shortcomings of school teaching, and put forward basic ideas of teaching in the next stage: establish the concept of modern education and upgrade school-running level; boost the reform of credit system in an all-round way and improve the quality of talents; focus on promoting the construction of professional courses and enhance the teaching competitiveness; rationally allocate educational resources and optimize the education environment.
Vice President Chen Anhua announced the shortlist of teachers for the talent program; Vice President Liu Youjin announced the commendation decision of the teaching of higher authorities; Vice President Shi Shiliang announced the decision on teaching commendation. The prize-winning unit representatives and individuals received the on-site commendation at the conference.
Representatives of the prize-winning units and teachers respectively made speeches on the school’s talent training and specialty construction, as well as their experience of the multi-dimensional cooperative education.
According to the conference arrangement, each unit will organize faculty members to study and discuss the spirit of conference seriously on September 25th.
