On September 5th, Xia Zhaoyan, a HNUST retired teacher, was elected as the 7th National Model of Helping Others.
In recent days, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China(CPC) and President Xi Jinping, made an instruction concerning the commendation event of national moral models, and extended warm congratulations to the elected ones. The 7th National Moral Models Symposium was held in Beijing on September 5th, at which the commendation result was announced, and 58 people were awarded the 7th National Moral Models while recognition was also given to 257 nominees for the awards.
It was reported that the event was initiated by six central departments and organizations. To honor a new round of national-level moral models, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, is of great importance to advocate virtues, carry out positive energy, and promote social moral behaviors. Furthermore, the publicity of role models’ stories and virtues guides the civilians to follow suit, which can provide strong spiritual strength and moral support to realize the Chinese dream in the new era.
