Recently, Department of Education of Hunan Province has announced the review results of the new engineering and new agricultural research and practice projects in Hunan Province in 2020. Four new engineering projects and one new agricultural project of HNUST were all approved as provincial projects.

Among these projects, “Approaches to Cultivating the Ability of Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship of Mechanical Talents in Local Universities and Colleges Based on ‘the Integration of Industry, Research and Competition’ ” under the lead of Professor Liu Deshun, was listed as a candidate for national project. This project serves the Strategy of Building China into a Manufacturing Power, and closely combines the development demands of advanced manufacturing to cultivate new engineering talents with innovative and practical ability.

It is reported that， this year，Department of Education of Hunan Province has chosen 62 new engineering research and practice projects at the provincial level (with an approval rate of about 50%) as well as 25 new agricultural research and practice projects at the provincial level (with an approval rate of about 25%), 10 of which were respectively introduced to the Ministry of  Education.

The construction of new engineering and new agricultural science meets the demands of deepening higher education reform in an all-round way and of higher education actively adapting to new trends in national strategic development, which is of great significance for HNUST to promote “Double First-class” construction as well as realize the discipline connotation construction and specialization. Taking this provincial approval as an opportunity and the reformation of talent training program as a starting point, HNUST actively deploys strategic emerging industries and cultivates high-quality inter-disciplinary talents with innovative and entrepreneurial capabilities and dynamic adaptability.
