The 2nd Qi Baishi University Culture and Art Festival (Chinese Paintings), under the theme of “Elegance & Pure Fun”, was opened in HNUST on November 18th.
By the end of September 7th, the Organizing Committee of the festival had received a total of 639 original works from 93 universities, the high enthusiasm of participation and strong support by universities.
126 works were selected through rounds of careful assessment, of whichthere were 1 gold medal, 7 silver medals, 10 bronze medals and 31 excellent works. Besides, Outstanding Organization Awards also were awarded to 16 universities.
The opening ceremony, award ceremony and works exhibition were held at Art Building of HNUST from November 18th to 24th. Meanwhile, the art works of HNUST were exhibited at First Gymnasium. The works awarded were recommended for publication in authoritative academic journals and magazines.
On November 18th, judges and guests gathered at Art Building of the School of Arts for a summit. Huang Danhui, a researcher at National Art Museum of China, editor-in-chief of China Public Art Network and special researcher from Communication University of China, gave an academic lecture for the award-winning students.
During the festival,the representatives of award winners and universities in the exhibition went respectively to the Qi Baishi Memorial Hall and Shaoshan (the birthplace of Chairman Mao) where a painting activity was held.
It is reported that this festival includes 7 segments: Opening Ceremony, Award Ceremony, Exhibition of Chinese Paintings, Art Exhibition of HNUST, the summit forum, the academic lecture, and the trip to Qi Baishi’s hometown. In addition, HNUST set up special organizations to lead and guarantee related work, in an effort to hold a university culture and art festival with profound effect at home and abroad.
