The Fourth Contest for Teachers’ Classroom Teaching Held




 






 
 
On June 23rd, the final of the Fourth HNUST Contest of Teachers’ Classroom Teaching was held in Ligong Building. Divided into four groups, 42 teachers, standing out from the preliminary selection, competed with each other in the final.
 
The contest consisted of two parts: the first part is reviewing the teaching design, teaching plan and on-site teaching of the candidates. In the second part, the candidates were required to give a lesson within 15 minutes.
 
During the final, Wang Yingying, a teacher from the School of Foreign Studies, introduced the similarities and differences between the United States and China, and won a round of applause. Taking the city Sheffield as an example, Chai Ning, from the School of Architecture and Art Design, lectured on the process of urban regeneration vividly. Then, he stressed the theme that the event played a leading role in urban development. In addition, Zhu Jianghong from the School of Arts, wearing the unique Mongolian costume, explained the Mongo nationalityfor students, leading to her main content, Mongolian dance. She demonstrated and explained each movement of the dance by herself, and then invited her students onto the stage to dance. She directedher students patiently so that they could better master the accuracy of the movements.
 
At last, Ding Guizhen, a judge of the final, highly praised the teachers’ performances. “I feel that each candidate has made preparations for the contest. Their lectures are substantial and reasonable, and their explanations are exact. Meanwhile, they also emphasize the interaction with students, and they have a close affinity with students.” She stressed that a qualified teacher should pursue both professional excellence and moral integrity. In addition, a teacher should love their students.
 
According to the final score of the two parts, the contest awarded 9 first prizes, 10 second prizes, and 15 third prizes.
