The 2022 World Robot Contest was held in Beijing Etrong International Exhibition & Convention Center from August 18th to 21st. The winner list of the contest was recently announced. After a fierce competition, the School of Information and Electrical Engineering of HNUST won the grand prize, the first prize and the second prize in the final of the BCI Brian Control Robot Skills Competition, P300 group and the third prize in the all-around group.
The World Robot Contest has been held for seven consecutive years since 2015 and attracted almost 200,000 contestants from more than 20 countries in the world. With a sounder system, richer content and a larger scale, the event has become an official competition in the robotics field at home and abroad, which is also acclaimed as the “Olympic Games” in the robotics field by mainstream media.
As a world-class event, the BCI contest is guided by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and jointly held by the Ministry of Information and Technology of NSFC, Chinese Institute of Electronics and Tsinghua University. It aims to examine the innovative application results of BCI technology used in medical rehabilitation, helping the old and disabled people, etc., promote the integrated development of the technology in every field, and improve China’s innovative ability in high-tech and its international position. And the official BCI data generated in the contest will be archived, which can be seen as an important achievement in the field of BCI research in China.
