On March 25th, the final of the 9th National Mathematics Contest for College Students, sponsored and organized by Chinese Mathematical Society and Xi‘an JiaoTong University respectively,came to a successful conclusion in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province.Xu Zhengrong, a senior student from the School of Mathematics and Computational Science, won the first prize in mathematics group. Besides, Liu Yexin, a junior student from the School of Mechanical Engineering, won the third prize in non-mathematics group.
The National Mathematics Contest for College Students has been held annually since 2009, which aims to stimulate college students’ interest in mathematics, promote the reform and construction of mathematics curriculum in colleges, improve the teaching level, and foster innovative talents of mathematics. Currently, this contest is the largest one ever in terms of influence and number of participants among national mathematics contests.
