Professor Zhou Qian of Purdue University Northwest Visits HNUST









 
 
Zhou Qian, a professor of Purdue University Northwest, paid a visit to HNUST on the afternoon of March 14th. She discussed matters relating to inter-school exchanges of teachers, scientific research cooperation, and ETIE, a student exchange program, with the teachers and students from the School of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Computer Science and Engineering and the School of Civil Engineering.
 
During the meeting, Professor Zhou gave an introduction to three ETIE programs of Purdue University Northwest for student exchanges. Furthermore, she hoped that this visit could provide a good chance for further cooperation and exchanges between the two universities, and then she   explained the internal operation of the virtual blast furnace and computational fluid dynamics(CFD). Besides, she noted that students of HNUST could apply for the program to improve themselves and strive for a better development platform.
 
During the process of exchanges, the leaders of three schools gave a detailed introduction to some aspects including current school development, teaching resources, training of talents and discipline advantages. Moreover, young teachers had a discussion on the differences in scientific research projects and natural fund between China and the United States.
 
It is reported that HNUST and Purdue University Northwest had signed the MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) and two sides decided to initiate the selection of outstanding students to study in Purdue University Northwest at the end of 2017.

Zhou Qian, a Ph.D. supervisor of the department of mechanical engineering at Purdue University Northwest, is a director of the Center for Innovation through Visualization and Simulation, and the dean of steel manufacturing numerical simulation and visualization alliance. Over the years, she has mainly focused on the research on CFD and its virtual reality visualization, combustion and multiphase reactionflow modeling.
