A representative of University of the West of Scotland Visits HNUST






 
 
On the morning of March 9th, Dr.David.Ngzi, Dean of School of Engineering & Computing, School of Science & Sport, and School of Health, Nursing & Midwifery of University of the West of Scotland (UWS), was invited to visit HNUST and discuss matters relating to inter-school cooperation and exchanges between teachers and students’ study in Britain. The meeting was held in the Meeting Hall 310 of School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineeringchaired by Yang Hui, a teacher from International Affairs Office. Representatives of students and teachers of School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering attended the meeting.
 
During the meeting, Dr. David. Ngzi gave a brief introduction to UWS. He noted that UWS, located in the Southwestern Scotland and established in 1897, is a National University approved officially by British government. The university is also a multi-disciplinary and comprehensive teaching and research institution. UWS is ranked by Times Higher Education in 2018 World University Rankings as being in the top 3% of universities worldwide,  
At present, more than 10,000 students, from over 40 countries and regions, are studying in UWS. Moreover, with a long history, the discipline of Chemical Engineering is in partnership with a number of domestic universities. In 2015 and 2016, the employment rate of graduates of this discipline is 100% and 95% respectively. Students of the major have promising career prospects in the future. In addition, Dr. David. Ngzi said that UWS offered a series of preferential policies for students of HNUST studying there.
 
It is reported that two universities have maintained close exchanges in the training of students and teachers since the establishment of cooperative relationship in 2006. As important partners, UWS and HNUST launched many international students exchange programs, including the undergraduate program (3+1 program) and the postgraduate program (4+1 program). HNUST has selected a number of students and teachers to study in UWS successively, so as to maintain  long-standing cooperative relationship.
