Students of HNUST Praised in the Second China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo

Recently, HNUST received a letter of thanks from the Committee of China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE), which showed its gratitude and full approval to the selected volunteers from the School of Foreign Studies of HNUST during the expo.

From September 26th to 29th, the Second CAETE was cosponsored by the Commerce Department and People’s Government of Hunan Province in Changsha, which is one of the most significant platforms of economic and trade cooperation under the mechanism of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. In order to provide good reception services in the expo and show the new image of Hunan Province, the Committee of CAETE had selected 650 from over 2000 applicants from Hunan’s prestigious universities since April 2021. Chen Yuhang, Xie Jiawen and other 18 students from the School of Foreign Studies of HNUST took part in the expo as volunteers. With their specialized language skills and earnest attitude, all of them were praised.

In recent years, with the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, the economic and cultural exchanges with foreign countries are becoming increasingly frequent. Thus, the needs for talents in the field of foreign languages is surging and colleges and universities are required to cultivate more personnel to meet the demands.

It is the first time for HNUST to dispatch students to do the service work in an international economic and trade expo. It is also a forceful measure for HNUST to implement the strategical plan of “Three Highlands and Four New Missions” and to serve the regional economy development. To cultivate the talents majoring in foreign languages in the new era, the School of Foreign Studies always attaches great importance to the combination of students’ foreign language studies and the social practice. It also manages to build various practical platforms for the students by means of the school’s education resources. So far, more than 10 practice bases have been established in or out of HNUST and over 20 students have been recommended to be volunteers in different international expos or sports meetings held at home and abroad.
