Recently, the Ministry of Education issued the "Decision on the 8th Awards for Outstanding Research Achievements (The Humanities and Social Sciences) in Institutes of Higher Learning". The paper Undertaking of Coastal Industry Transfer to Central China: Theory and Policy written by Prof. Liu and his team won the second prize in Publications.
Professor Liu has been keeping an eye on industrial and regional economy for many years. The awarded paper focuses on three issues, and got corresponding results: The industrial cluster undertaking is an effective mode to undertake the industrial transfer to central China; Guiding the cross-regional reconstruction of value chain is conducive to upgrading industries in both the coastal regions and central China; Giving full play to the regional comparative advantage is an important tool to realize the effective allocation of resources in the process of industrial transfer.
The project won the 1st prize for Outstanding Research Achievements (The Humanities and Social Sciences) in Hunan Province in 2017 and was included in the 2018 "Top Ten Practical Policies" in Hunan Province. It was the integration of a series of research results of major bidding projects of the National Social Science Fund. The research’s "Achievements Report", submitted to the Party Central Committee and the State Council, received circulated praise of the National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences. Professor Liu was honored as the leading talents in philosophy and social sciences of the "Ten-thousand Talents Program" and outstanding social scientists in Hunan Province, with many other provincial and national awards.
Established in 1995, the Awards for Outstanding Research Achievements (The Humanities and Social Sciences) in Institutes of Higher Learning was a major measure for the Ministry of Education to award the philosophy and social sciences scholars who have new outstanding achievements in higher institutions, so as to speed up the construction of philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics. Having been held for eight sessions every three years so far, it is considered to be the most credible and influential domestic award in humanities and social sciences.
