The final of the seventh ERCC(Educational Robot Contest of China) was held in Hunan University of Commerce from November 3rd to 5th. HNUST students achieved outstanding results, one special prize and three first prizes.
Four teams of our university competed in the final under the instruction of three teachers from School of Information and Electrical Engineering, Zeng Zhaofu, Wu Lianghong and Zhang Hongqiang. The team of Xie Zulong, Xiao Yusong, Wu Mingguang won the national special prize. Meanwhile, the team of Liu Zhifa, Wu Shiwen and Wang Ranran, the team of Wen Yongquan, Zhu Qikai and Li Jiangnan and the team of Li Bo, Zhou Xinyu and Huang Lei won nationwide first prizes respectively.
The contest was sponsored by CAAI, the Education Department of Hunan Province and Hunan Xiang Jiang New Area, organized by Hunan University of Commerce, School of Robotics of Hunan University and Changsha Bureau of Education, co-sponsored by Intelligent Robot Board under CAAI, Advisory Board for Discipline of Mechanics under Ministry of Education and Science & Education for All Children Co. Ltd. More than 1,300 students from over 100 universities attended the contest, which was unprecedented in scale. As a result, the contest got massive coverage.
Over the years, students’ practical skills and ability to innovate and start businesses have been highly emphasized in School of Information and Electrical Engineering. Relying on Innovative Training Center for College Studentsof Information and Electrical Engineering. 9 Theme Innovation Labs have been established on the sixth floor of Information Building and every lab is equipped with instructors. Almost 200 students are trained in this center per year. It also encourages students to take part in different kinds of competitions and yielded good results.

It has grown in scale and influence along with the increasing number of participants.
