In the recent 40th Mathematical Contest in Modeling/Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling (MCM/ICM), students from HNUST earned the prestigious Finalist award, also known as the F Prize, which has a selective winning ration of only 2.48%. The team comprised Kang Zhuo from the School of Mathematics and Computational Science, Wu Zhikang from the School of Computer Science and Engineering, and Ouyang Jingwen from the School of Architecture and Art Design, under the guidance of their faculty advisor, Tan Min.
Regarded as one of the most influential competitions globally, the MCM/ICM sets the standard for mathematical contests in modeling. The competition offers various levels of awards, with the Finalist prize being equivalent to the first prize in undergraduate mathematical modeling contests.
