On May 19th, Mao Wanchun, Chairman of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), came to HNUST for investigation. He delivered a speech on General Secretary Xi Jinping's visit to Hunan, and met with CPPCC Members at HNUST.
Mao Wanchun visited several places at HNUST, including National-Local Joint Engineering Laboratory of Marine Mineral Resources Exploration Equipment and Safety Technology,Metaverse Innovative Research and Development Institute, andQi Baishi Art Gallery. He gained a detailed understanding of the situations in teaching and talent cultivating, the transfer and conversion of scientific and technological achievements, and educational reforms. In addition, he convened a seminar to have in-depth exchanges with school faculty, staff, and some CPPCC members currently working at school.
Mao emphasized the urgency of in-depth study and full implementation of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speeches and instructions during his visit to Hunan. He stressed that the university shoulders the responsibility of strengthening China through education and scientific advancement. He also mentioned that HNUST should leverage its strengths and work continuously to optimize its educational environment and highlight its unique character. This will help HNUST strive to become a leader in disciplinary construction. The Provincial Political Consultative Conference will provide strong support for the construction of high-level universities and promote the high-quality development of education through various forms such as submitting proposals.
