HNUST Postgraduate Won the Silver Medal in the tenth Paralympic Games in Hunan

On September 18th, the tenth Paralympic Games in Hunan was held in Hengyang. Song Qiong, a postgraduate of HNUST, participated in this competition and won the silver medal in the women’s S8 100-meter freestyle final.

In 2010, Song was involved in a car accident resulting in the amputation of her two legs, one of the most severe disabilities. In order to keep fit, she decided to learn swimming, which is even not easy for people without any disabilities. But she persisted, "I can’t move freely on the ground, but I can swim freely in the water."

This summer, Song joined the Xiangtan sports team to compete in the tenth Paralympic Games in Hunan. And she was the only person who insisted on participating in swimming competition without legs. With the strength of her hands, she struggled to swim, and won the glory eventually for Xiangtan and HNUST.
