Recently, the 7th Hunan Postgraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling came to an end. The team of HNUST won 1 first prize, 4 second prizes and 10 third prizes, which was also the seventh straight first prize for the school.

Sponsored by Hunan Provincial Department of Education and hosted by Central South University, the contest this year attracted 18 colleges and universities across the province. Since the start of the competition in August, the 30 teams from relevant colleges have been receiving targeted training from excellent instructors in terms of model constructing, keys and difficulties, and results demonstrations thanks to the meticulous organization of the Graduate School (Department) as well as high regard from the School of Mathematics and Computational Science.

Attaching great importance to the cultivation of innovative spirit and the improvement of practical skills of postgraduates, HNUST strives to perfect the training mode of academic postgraduates and nurture high-level innovative application-oriented talents.

We support and encourage them to participate in cutting-edge high-level scientific research and offer stages for their professional practice and discipline competitions. Serving for ‘three highlands and four new missions’ strategy (the development goal proposed by President Xi in his inspecting of Hunan Province), the contest provides opportunities for postgraduate students to refine their academic literacy and show their ability.
