The China Artists Association (CAA) and the Fine Arts Center of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC) have announced the shortlist for the 3rd National Student Fine Arts Exhibition. Five artworks by students from the Qi Baishi School of Arts at Hunan University of Science and Technology (HNUST) have advanced to the second-round review. Spanning Chinese painting, oil painting, watercolor, and mixed media, the selection marks a historic milestone for HNUST, representing the first time student works from the University have been shortlisted for this prestigious national exhibition

The five outstanding pieces reflect the students’ creative pursuit, deeply rooted in daily life and attuned to contemporary social themes. Through their unique, youthful lenses, these emerging artists observe society and capture the sweeping landscape of modern times. Inheriting the artistic legacy of master painter Qi Baishi, the School of Arts has long upheld an educational philosophy centered on “cultivating character through culture and aesthetic education”. By honing technical skills and establishing a distinct curriculum for creative teaching, the School encourages students to ground themselves in fine traditions while embracing modern rhythms and artistic innovation.
