The 4th National College Students' Mental Health Counseling Lesson Innovation Showcase, hosted by the National Advisory Committee on Teaching Psychology to Majors in Higher Education Institutions under the Ministry of Education, recently concluded in Guangzhou. Under the guidance of instructor Yin Xiaoyun, Zhang Yuan, an Applied Psychology major from the School of Education of Hunan University of Science and Technology (HNUST), won the national first prize.
Following a rigorous preliminary round, 143 contestants from 109 universities qualified for the national finals, with 72 advancing to the live, on-site teaching sessions. From the early preparation stages to the final round, Zhang Yuan continuously refined her instructional design and delivered a stellar performance, earning her place in the highly competitive on-site teaching finals.
This event serves as a national stage for evaluating the teaching competence of Chinese psychology majors. Focusing on core professional competencies, the showcase comprehensively evaluates participants' classroom design and practical teaching capabilities. It aims to identify and cultivate future mental health educators who possess solid academic foundations, advanced pedagogical concepts, and an innovative mindset, ultimately strengthening mental health education at the primary and secondary school levels.
