107th Anniversary of the May Fourth Movement Celebrated at HNUST with Youth Forum and Commendation Ceremony

On May 13th, Hunan University of Science and Technology (HNUST) held a joint forum ofr youth faculty and students, alongside a May Fourth Youth Day commendation ceremony, to mark the 107th anniversary of the May Fourth Movement. The event aimed to thoroughly study the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important reply letter to the representatives of the China Youth May Fourth Medal winners and New Era Youth Pioneers. Attendees also reviewed the University’s recent progress in youth development and commended outstanding individuals and collectives. Zhao Qiancheng, Member of the University Party Committee and Vice President attended the ceremony.

Zhao praised the achievements attained by HNUST’s young faculty and students in academic research, social practice, campus cultural development and other fields. He emphasized that the youth must strengthen their ideals and convictions, deepen their professional knowledge, cultivate professional ethics, and maintain a high‑spirited and proactive attitude. Guided by their aspirations, young people should hone their capabilities to shoulder responsibilities and contribute to the great cause of building a strong country and realizing national rejuvenation.
A total of 54 collectives and 74 individuals were honored at the ceremony, with accolades including the “Top 10 Scientific and Technological Innovation Teams” presented to the winners. Keynote speeches were delivered by several award-winning representatives, including Chen Xiao, representing the recipient unit of the National May Fourth Red Flag Youth League Committee award-winning unit; Zhu Sangtong, a recipient of the “China University Student Self-Improvement Star” award; and Luo Jiaxiang, a winner of the University’s May Fourth Youth Medal award winner.

The event was attended by heads of relevant departments, deputy secretaries of the Party committees and Youth League secretaries from various Schools, as well as representatives of young faculty and students.
