Hunan NPC Deputies Visit HNUST for Industry-Academia-Research Collaboration

On the morning of March 18, after the conclusion of the National Two Sessions, national deputies to the National People's Congress (NPC) from enterprises in Hunan, including Li Donglin, Shan Xiaoming, Tian Jiqun, and Huang Le from CRRC Zhuzhou Institute and AECC Hunan Aviation Powerplant Research Institute, visited HNUST. They joined Yin Shuangfeng, NPC deputy and President of the university, and Wan Buyan, NPC deputy and Chief Scientist of the Ocean Laboratory, for discussions on deepening the integration of industry, academia, and research.

The deputies toured the Ocean Laboratory and several research platforms, including the large-scale special-vehicle vibration testing platform, the Deep-Sea Engineering Structure Multi-Hazard Prevention and Intelligent Operation & Maintenance Center, and the aero-engine high-altitude low-Reynolds-number turbine component performance test rig. They spoke highly of HNUST's efforts and achievements in advancing collaborative scientific and technological research to serve national strategic needs and in achieving breakthroughs in core technologies. During a subsequent symposium, the deputies were briefed on the university's "HaiNiu" series of technological achievements and related disciplines. They shared their insights on studying and implementing the guiding principles of the Two Sessions and on further promoting deeper industry-academia-research integration.

The deputies noted that implementing the spirit of the Two Sessions hinges on advancing education, science and technology, and talent development in a coordinated manner, promoting the deep integration of technological innovation and industrial innovation, and supporting leading technology enterprises in forming innovation union to undertake more key research tasks. They emphasized the need to leverage HNUST's disciplinary strengths in deep-sea equipment, special vehicles, and aviation power to foster in-depth collaboration with the industrialization platforms of enterprises including CRRC Zhuzhou Institute and AECC Hunan Aviation Powerplant Research Institute in fields such as advanced machinery, intelligent manufacturing, and wind turbine equipment. They recommended not only inviting enterprise experts to the university but also sending university scholars to work in enterprises on a regular basis, so as to translate laboratory prototypes into  production-line products. The university and the enterprises also reached a consensus on enhancing the sharing of laboratory facilities and jointly developing a list of future technological and product collaboration projects.

President Yin Shuangfeng stated that, going forward, HNUST will thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the Two Sessions, focus on national strategies and the industrial development needs of Hunan Province, and proactively engage with leading enterprises in Hunan. HNUST will work with its partners to jointly cultivate talent, jointly build platforms, and share resources, ensuring that education aligns with technological advancements and talent meets industrial demands, thereby contributing more expertise and strength to the high-quality economic and social development of Xiangtan city and Hunan Province as a whole.
