HNUST Takes Second Place Overall as 13th Hunan Provincial University Games Conclude

The 13th Hunan Provincial University Games, organized by the Department of Education of Hunan Province and hosted by Hunan University of Science and Technology (HNUST), came to an successful close on the evening of September 15. Following 26 days of fierce competition among thousands of student-athletes from across the province, HNUST delivered an outstanding performance, finishing second in the overall standings for the University Division. Across all divisions, 122 athletes broke 37 competition records, with a total of 1,951 medals awarded.
Zhu Zhenghua, representing the Department of Education of Hunan Province, delivered the closing address. The ceremony was presided over by HNUST Vice President Yin Fengyu, with key leaders of the University in attendance, including President Yin Shuangfeng, Xiangtan University President Liao Yong'an, and HNUST Deputy Party Secretary Xie Hui, alongside officials from provincial sports and education associations.
Bringing together nearly 10,000 athletes from over 100 higher education institutes across Hunan Province, the Games featured 483 events across 14 sports. Hunan Normal University took first place in the University Division, while Hengyang Normal University led the College Division, and Hunan Vocational College of Physical Education topped the Vocational College Division. In recognition of exceptional achievement and sportsmanship, 18 universities were awarded the prestigious President's Cup, and 62 delegations received Outstanding Delegation honors. Individuals and team accolades were also presented to nearly 3,000 athletes, coaches, teams, and referees, celebrating both athletic excellence and the inspiring spirit of Hunan's university students.

A highlight of the closing ceremony was the official flag handover. Yin Shuangfeng, President of HNUST, returned the Game Flag to Zhu Zhenhua, who then passed it to Liao Yong'an, President of Xiangtan University, which will host the 14th Hunan Provincial University Games in 2030.
