Targeting the Right Talent: HNUST Party Secretary Leads Recruitment Drive in Guangdong
On May 16, the 2026 Hunan Province College Graduate Employment and Entrepreneurship Promotion Event (Guangzhou Stop) kicked off at the Guangdong Science Center. Jiang Lizhong, Party Secretary of Hunan University of Science and Technology (HNUST) led a delegation to the event. Seizing the premium talent pool, HNUST rolled out 68 prime doctoral positions and successfully reached preliminary employment agreements with nearly 10 fresh PhD graduates on site.

The job fair brought together 300 major employers offering more than 8800 positions. At the HNUST booth, the delegation set up an innovative, on-site “Talent Reception Room”, and Jiang Lizhong steeped up as the University’s “Chief Talent Recruiter”, personally accessing high-quality candidates and fast-tracking immediate hiring decisions.
According to HNUST Human Resources Office, this hands-on approach is backed by a robust institutional mechanism where the University’s top leadership directly oversees and drives talent acquisition, including convening monthly meetings dedicated to talent recruitment. And well before the Guangzhou fair, HNUST had already formed an “advance team” to conduct exclusive talent policy briefings and one-on-one discussions at several universities, including Sun Yat‑sen University, South China University of Technology, Jinan University, and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies.
“Talent recruitment should not be a scattergun approach, but a targeted effort,” said Jiang Lizhong. Aligning with Hunan’s “Three Hubs and Four New Missions” strategy, HNUST is aggressively advancing its “1545 Plan” for the University’s governance and development by strategically tailoring its recruitment openings to reinforce signature disciplines, including mechanical and electrical engineering, computer science, and artificial intelligence.

To complete its academic appeal, HNUST provides a seamless, “concierge-style” support system for incoming scholars. The University offers tailor-made “one‑on‑one” and “team-to-one" assistance packages covering everything from onboarding and housing to household registration, and even spousal job placement. This meticulous attention to detail has a proven track record, at last year’s recruitment event in Shanghai, HNUST successfully secured a joint signing intention from a doctoral couple graduating from Fudan University.
At the Guangzhou event this year, a fresh PhD graduate from South China University of Technology signed his agreement right on the booth. “I was deeply moved by the research platform of HNUST, but even more so by the sincerity they showed to us,” said he.

Beyond providing strong living support, HNUST also places great emphasis on building platforms where allow the talents to realize their personal value. The University has established the Sanya Research Institute, the very first R&D institutions approved and registered by Hunan Province, while simultaneously co‑founding advanced research centers with top-tier labs like the Xiangjiang Laboratory, and launched deep collaborations with the subsidiaries of China Minmetal in Hunan.
“When talent thrives, the university flourishes; When talent gathers, Hunan is empowered,” Jiang Lizhong Concluded, “We are implementing the ‘three transformations’ with concrete and impactful measures. We warmly welcome outstanding talents to join HNUST and take root in Hunan.”
