HNUST's Science and Innovation Team Wins the Second Award of National Prize in "Challenge Cup" Competition

On November 3rd, the 19th "Challenge Cup" National College Student Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition was held at Nanjing University. The project, Anti-Electric Fishing Patrol and Inspection Robot Based on Multimodal Feature Fusion, of the School of Information and Electrical Engineering of HNUST, stood out in the "AI+" Special Event Contest and won the second national prize.
The award-winning project directly addresses the practical needs of aquatic ecological protection. By innovatively integrating multimodal feature recognition technology, the team developed the anti-electric fish patrol and inspection robot, capable of accurate detection and real-time effectively overcoming the limitations of traditional patrol methods. The project was highly praised by judges for both its technical innovation, marking a notable achievement in applying artificial intelligence technology to ecological protection.
In recent years, HNUST has regarded high-level scientific and technological innovation competitions such as the "Challenge Cup" as key platforms for promoting innovation and entrepreneurship education. The university has built a three-tier training system comprising campus-level selection and cultivation, provincial-level enhancement, and national-level advancement. Through measures such as setting up science and innovation tutor studios, holding university-level science and innovation competitions, and building achievement transformation platforms, HNUST has continuously stimulated students' innovative potential, gradually fostering a healthy educational ecology that "promotes learning, research, and innovation through competitions."
