Hunan University of Science and Technology Holds Deployment Meeting for International Student Higher Education Quality Certification
To continuously improve the quality of education for international students in China, advance the quality-oriented development of the university's international education, and solidly prepare for the National Higher Education Quality Certification for International Students in China, Hunan University of Science and Technology successfully held a deployment meeting on May 15, 2026. Zhou Hu, Vice President of the university, and Lyu Aijing, Director of the Office of International Affairs, attended the meeting. Leading officials and international student management specialists from 16 schools undertaking international student education also participated. Focusing on the expert on-site evaluation scheduled from June 10 to 12, the meeting fully arranged tasks, refined division of responsibilities, and ensured accountability, marking the beginning of the final sprint for the evaluation preparation.
Previously, on March 15, 2026, the university completed and officially submitted the self-evaluation report and supporting materials to the China Education Association for International Exchange, laying a solid foundation for preliminary preparation. The on-site evaluation is a key task deployed by the Ministry of Education. It serves not only as a comprehensive inspection of the university's achievements in running international student programs, management and service capabilities, and quality assurance system, but also as a critical opportunity to upgrade the connotation of international education and enhance "the brand of 'Study at HNUST'" .
At the meeting, Vice President Zhou Hu delivered a mobilizing and concluding speech, putting forward overall requirements for the evaluation preparation. He pointed out that the quality certification for international student higher education is vital to the overall development of the university's internationalization. The whole university should uphold the principle of "one university, one team", raise political awareness, and strengthen accountability. He stressed that all schools should adhere to the guideline of "Promoting construction, reform, management and strength through evaluation", sort out work highlights and address weaknesses in accordance with certification indicators, refine task division and clarify job responsibilities to ensure closed-loop implementation of all work. Meanwhile, all staff should abandon slack attitudes, adhere to problem-oriented approaches, promote preparation with rigorous and pragmatic work styles, and comprehensively enhance the standardized and refined management of international student education.
Director Lyu Aijing made special arrangements for the specific work of on-site evaluation. She interpreted in detail the core evaluation procedures, key inspection points and working norms, informed the results of preliminary material preparation, and clarified phased timeline and core tasks for each school. She required all schools to focus on their duties, prioritize improving teaching archives, standardizing student status management, optimizing talent training processes, upgrading logistics support, strengthening coordination between departments and schools, efficiently completing material improvement and on-site preparation, and ensuring orderly and smooth progress of the on-site evaluation.
The meeting further refined the division of special tasks, specifying job responsibilities, task lists and deadlines for the 16 undertaking schools, and setting detailed standards and accountability for key links including teaching management, archive sorting, faculty support and on-site reception. Representatives from all schools pledged to strictly implement the university's arrangements, promptly advance preparation work, and make every endeavor to successfully complete the evaluation mission.
The convening of this meeting marks that the university's international student education quality certification has officially entered the final sprint stage. Taking this certification and evaluation as an opportunity, the university will deepen the reform of international student education and teaching, improve the international talent training system, continuously elevate the level of international education, strive to cultivate high-quality international talents who know China well and are friendly to China, and contribute to building a powerful country in education.
