On November 16, the 14th National GIS Application Skills Competition for College Students came to a successful conclusion at Xi'an University of Science and Technology. A student team from HNUST's School of Geoscience and Spatial Information Engineering, consisting of Cui Jiarui, Nie Miqi, Wu Yaqing, and He Lijuan, and advised by instructors Li Xiuquan and Liao Xiuying, stood out with their outstanding performance. They outperformed over 1,000 participants from 181 universities across the country to win the competition's top award, the Grand Prize, also known as the Special Gold Award.

The National GIS Application Skills Competition for College Students is one of the most authoritative and influential student competitions in China's geographic information field. Guided by the principle of "promoting learning and teaching through competition," this year's competition thoroughly assessed contestants' core competencies in spatial data processing, cartographic representation, and spatial analysis and modeling, serving as a comprehensive test of students' end-to-end GIS application skills.

This award is a testament to the success of our School of Geoscience and Spatial Information Engineering in recent years. Through initiatives such as curriculum optimization, strengthening hands-on training, and promoting university-industry collaboration, HNUST has significantly enhanced students' professional expertise and innovative capacities.
