On April 13, Yin Shuangfeng, President of Hunan University of Science and Technology(HNUST), held a meeting on work coordination with Yan Qin, President of the Chinese Academy of Surveying and Mapping(CASM). The two sides exchanged views on the joint construction of HNUST by the People’s Government of Hunan Province and the Ministry of Natural Resources. They reached preliminary agreements on cooperation in discipline development, talent cultivation, scientific research and key technological breakthroughs. Liu Jiping, Vice President of the Academy, and Zhao Qiancheng, Member of HNUST’s Party Committee and Vice President, attended the meeting.

Yin Shuangfeng presented a comprehensive overview of HNUST, highlighting its educational strengths and scientific research advantages in the fields of deep earth, deep sea, deep space and “Artificial Intelligence Plus”. He proposed to actively implement the provincial-ministerial joint construction agreement, improve the regular communication mechanism, deepen bilateral cooperation, and support the national natural resources strategy as well as Hunan’s “Three Hubs and Four New Missions” strategy. Yan Qin extended a warm welcome to the HNUST delegation and briefed them on the Academy’s development. She expressed the high expectations for promoting practical, strategy-driven cooperation by leveraging their respective strengths.

During the visit, Yin Shuangfeng and his delegation toured the Academy’s scientific research achievement exhibition hall, where they learned in detail about its technological innovations and engineering applications in surveying, mapping, remote sensing, geographic information, and spatial big data.

Heads from the Office of Scientific Research, the School of Information and Electrical Engineering, the School of Earth Sciences and Spatial Information Engineering, the National & Local Joint Engineering Laboratory of Geospatial Information Technology and other departments also participated in the event.
