Liu Jianxun / Vice President
Vice President Liu is responsible for infrastructure, logistics, and cybersecurity and informatization. He oversees the Infrastructure and Logistics Department and the Informatization Office. He liaises with the School of Information and Electrical Engineering and the School of Architecture and Design.
Liu Jianxun, male, Han ethnicity, was born in Hengyang County, Hunan Province in May 1970. He is a non-party-affiliated scholar, professor, and doctoral supervisor.He holds a Ph.D. in engineering.He graduated from the Department of Electrical Engineering at Hunan Institute of Engineering in 1989. In 1997, he earned his Master of Engineering degree from the Department of Computer Science at Central South University (formerly Central South University of Technology), and in 2003, he received his Ph.D. in Engineering from the Department of Computer Science at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He then conducted postdoctoral research at the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences from 2004 to 2007. In 2008, he undertook a one-year academic visit to the3 University of Ottawa in Canada under a government sponsorship program. From 1989 to 2020, he worked at HNUST (including its predecessor, Xiangtan Institute of Technology). There, he successively held the positions of Vice Dean of the School of Computer Science (2003-2014), Director of the Network and Information Center (2014-2017), and Dean of the School of Computer Science (2017-2021). In January 2021, he was appointed Vice President of Hunan University of Humanities, Science and Technology. In August 2024, he assumed the role of Vice President of HNUST. He previously served as Vice President of the Fourth Hunan Provincial Intellectuals Association, Chair of CCF YOCSEF Changsha (2012-2013), and Standing Committee Member of the CCF Service Computing Technical Committee. He is currently a Standing Committee Member of the 13th Hunan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
He is a recipient of the Special Government Allowance from the State Council (2014) and the Hunan Provincial May Fourth Youth Medal (2009). His research has been supported by the Ministry of Education's Program for New Century Excellent Talents (2009) and the Hunan Provincial Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars (2010). His achievements include leading projects that received one Second-Class and one Third-Class Hunan Provincial Science and Technology Award, as well as one First-Class Hunan Provincial Teaching Achievement Award. He has led 5 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, served as the principal investigator for one project under the National Key R&D Program of China, and co-led one project under the National 973 Program. He has published over 100 academic papers in international journals such as IEEE TSC, IEEE TPDS, IEEE TKDE, IEEE TC, IEEE TBD, IEEE TNSM, IEEE TASE, ACM TWeb, and at international academic conferences including AAAI, IJCAI, and IEEE ICWS.
