Zhou Hu  /  Member of the University Party Committee, Vice President


Zhou Hu is a professor and doctoral supervisor at Hunan University of Science and Technology (HNUST). Born in March 1981, he is a member of the Communist Party of China. He previously served as the Party Secretary and Dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at HNUST, and was appointed Vice President and a member of the University Party Committee in November 2025.

His primary research areas include functional polymers and nanocomposites. He has served as the principal investigator for three national-level projects and more than 30 other initiatives at the provincial/ministerial level and through industry-university-research collaborations. Under his supervision, students have been awarded national prizes on over 10 occasions in prestigious competitions such as the China International College Students' "Internet Plus" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and the "Challenge Cup" National Undergraduate Academic and Scientific Contest. His scholarly output comprises over 100 papers indexed in SCI/EI databases. He holds 36 authorized Chinese invention patents, four of which have been licensed for commercial application, along with three granted U.S. and Japanese patents. Leading as the principal investigator, he has been awarded the Second Prize of the Hunan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award twice.

He was selected into the National-Level Youth Talent Initiative, and has been honored with several distinguished provincial-level awards, including recognition as a Hunan Provincial Science and Technology Leading Talent, a Hunan Young Talent, and a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars.

He is responsible for scientific research, defense-related projects, foreign affairs, international education, and academic journal affairs.

He oversees the Office of Scientific Research, the Office of Social Science Research, the Office of International Affairs (also responsible for Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan affairs), the Journals Press, and the Sanya Research Institute.

He also maintains liaison with the School of Computer Science and Engineering, the School of Physical and Electronic Science, and the School of Foreign Studies.
