On January 13th, an expert panel from Hunan Language Promotion Base came to HNUST for the on-the-spot investigation. The panel included Yan Mingfang, Deputy Director of Hunan Language Training and Testing Center, and other language experts. He Zelong, Vice President of HNUST, attended the meeting, along with leaders or representatives of relevant functional departments, School of Humanities, School of Computer Science and Engineering, Qi Baishi School of Art and School of Education, and core members of the base. The on-the-spot report was presided over by the head of the Academic Administration.

In the morning, accompanied by the core members of the base, the experts inspected the related facilities, sites and system documents of five bases, namely Yifu Building, Teaching Building (9), Teaching Building (10), Ligong Building and Liyan Building. Subsequently, the expert panel and participants held a report meeting in Lide Building. Starting from the characteristics of education and history of HNUST, Vice President He introduced our emphasis on language work in detail. Professor Liu Qiyu, the responsible person for base declaration, summarized and reported the construction of the base from each respect.

The school environment and the language promotion work were highly praised by the expert panel. Besides, the expert panel provided some constructive suggestions on relevant details. Therefore, He Zelong declared that HNUST would grasp every opportunity to encourage researchers of the base to pursue innovation so that more and greater achievements could be made for its high-quality development.

Language promotion bases, which give play to their own advantages and lead the work of the standard spoken and written Chinese, are important platforms to integrate human resources and to inherit and spread excellent traditional Chinese language culture. As one department of the first provincial language promotion bases, HNUST will further strengthen the construction of the base and continuously sum up experience so as to form an ever-lasting mechanism and play a very positive role as a promoter and powerhouse.
